( Dr. Kwesi McGuire, Local Ophthalmologist Vaughan, ON ), may talk about some of the conditions and some of the treatment options shown on the videos. Always talk with your Local Ophthalmologist about the information you learnt from the videos in regards to treatments for What is Glaucoma? and procedures the Local Ophthalmologist could  perform and if they would be appropriate for you. Remember good information is the corner stone to understanding your condition or disease.

local ophthalmologist is different from a local optometrist in that an optometrist doesn’t perform surgery. If you have a condition known as ocular hypertension, which is a result of high ocular pressure, your risk of developing glaucoma increases.Your optometrist or ophthalmologist may want to lower your IOP as a preventative measure.

Please contact ( Dr. Kwesi McGuire, Local Ophthalmologist Vaughan, ON ) to enquire if this health care provider is accepting new patients.Patients are often concerned that an injection of material into their eye will be a painful or scary procedure. In fact, after the first or second injection, patients become quite at ease with the idea that they will have these injections, Following an intravitreal injection, you may feel pressure or grittiness in the eye, slight bleeding on the white of the eye and floaters in your vision. These are temporary and normal. As glaucoma progresses, it damages more and more of your optic nerve fibers, leading to vision loss. With primary open-angle glaucoma, the fluid can’t effectively flow back out of your eye. Angle-closure glaucoma occurs when the iris of the eye closes off the drainage angle completely, causing an increase in IOP pressure and damage to the optic nerve.

Glaucoma is a condition where there is increased pressure within the eyeball, causing damage to the optic nerve and gradual loss of sight.  If glaucoma is detected early preventative measures can be taken to save vision loss.

Cataracts can affect both eyes or just one, and some patients experience mild symptoms, while others can barely see any shapes or movements. Cataract symptoms include blurry vision, haloes, sensitivity to bright lights, decreased night vision, frequent changes in eyeglass prescriptions, and faded colours.

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that primarily affect the optic nerve, which transmits visual information from the retina to the brain. In most cases of glaucoma, damage to the optic nerve is associated with increased pressure within the eye, known as intraocular pressure (IOP). However, glaucoma can also occur without elevated IOP, known as normal-tension glaucoma.

When the pressure inside the eye becomes elevated, it can cause compression and damage to the retinal fibers that make up the optic nerve. These fibers are responsible for transmitting visual signals to the brain, allowing us to see.

Diagnosed my husband with glaucoma off one pressure test. Told him to take these eye drops 2x daily for rest of his life. Wrote him off. We were disgusted with his bedside manner and pushed for a second opinion with another ophthalmologist, where they told him it’s not glaucoma and it was likely an off reading. Thank goodness we got another opinion. Dr Maguire is a disgrace and should maybe seek another profession since he’s too busy to really do his job and properly diagnose people. Believe the bad reviews, they are ALL TRUE!

This was a very well run facility. I had both my eyes done by dr Mcguire and it was one of the best decision I have made. I will certainly recommend this surgeon to anyone who asks

I find it despicable that Dr. McGuire removed his RateMyMD page (possibly because he only received extremely negative reviews). My previous comment on RateMyMD is therefore not available for public viewing, and I think it is important for future patients to know what an irresponsible, unprofessional and negligent doctor he is. I am not sure why anyone like him would bother to stay a doctor, when his focus is only to get through as many patients as possible (therefore more income for him), rather than to help anyone. Shame on him. Dr. McGuire, if you see this I hope you can reflect on yourself. A CPSO complaint is coming for you.

I’m very disappointed to visit Dr Kwesi McGuire He treated so unprofessionally. He’s behaving like a business not Like a health care worker. Please don’t waste your time to book your appointment with him. Appointment waiting time three months and he just give less then 2 minutes and ran away. He even didn’t give me chance to ask him my queries. Government should take action on that business man Doctors

Terrible experience with this Dr. Got zero explanation on my issue and I was unable to ask any questions as I felt rushed by his responses. Not a good bedside manner I felt. Will be asking my dr for another referral.

My optometrist scared me when he said I was going blind from glaucoma and my eye pressures are way too high. Since seeing Dr Maguire I have had glaucoma lasers and I am doing a eye drop at night which seems to be keeping my eye pressures low. I am happy to continue seeing this doctor

Dr Mcguire has been a God send. I have had a lazy eye since childhood and was always super protective of my better right eye. My vision started going south about 4 years ago and I will always postpone my cataract surgery for fear of a something going wrong. Now I have had the surgery a new world has opened. I am extremely happy with the service and results!!

Was referred to Dr Maguire to further examine if my glaucoma was a major issue. He spent a total of 1-2 minutes with me. Checked each eye for about 30 seconds each and had zero empathy when relaying the results back to me. Gave me a 3 year refill prescription plan for eye drops and flat out said I’d need to take these the rest of my life. Gave zero recommendations for helping this issue out, or why it is happening or how it happened….just told me I had a case of bad luck. Absolutely disgusted with this dr and his lack of advice and care. Will be seeking a second opinion from another ophthalmologist! Don’t bother with this guy….you will leave upset.

The assembly line system this business uses works well for the large volume of clients they handle. The various technical staff are efficient in moving things along and are helpfull during the various testing steps they perform prior to the client meeting one of several eye specialists. The system falls apart when the client gets a specialist that is not as good at communicating to the client as are the technicians. Our exposure to Dr. McGuire was unfortunately enough for us to go elsewhere. The lack of interest in explaining the proposed procedure and the haste with which the consultation was handled was very unprofessional.

Interesting seeing all these comments. My vision is 20/20 after the surgery but if I were to have one critique is a better explanation of how to take the eye drops after

I felt incredibly dismissed by Dr. McGuire during my 5 minutes with him (5 minutes because he didn't want to spend longer than that with any of his patients). He barely said anything to me and when I asked him about possible treatment options, he said lose weight. As a woman in a healthy weight range for my height, I asked how much to lose. He did not give me any specific information and told me to leave as "we're done here". I was upset by the lack of care the doctor was providing even when I was clear and followed up on how to move forward with my condition. If I wasn't told to go to him by my optometrist, I wouldn't go back.
