Remember good information is the corner stone to understanding your condition or disease.

local ophthalmologist is different from a local optometrist in that an optometrist doesn’t perform surgery. If you have a condition known as ocular hypertension, which is a result of high ocular pressure, your risk of developing glaucoma increases.Your optometrist or ophthalmologist may want to lower your IOP as a preventative measure.

Please contact ( Dr. John F. Blaylock, Ophthalmologist Abbotsford, BC ) to enquire if this health care provider is accepting new patients.Patients are often concerned that an injection of material into their eye will be a painful or scary procedure. In fact, after the first or second injection, patients become quite at ease with the idea that they will have these injections, Following an intravitreal injection, you may feel pressure or grittiness in the eye, slight bleeding on the white of the eye and floaters in your vision. These are temporary and normal. As glaucoma progresses, it damages more and more of your optic nerve fibers, leading to vision loss. With primary open-angle glaucoma, the fluid can’t effectively flow back out of your eye. Angle-closure glaucoma occurs when the iris of the eye closes off the drainage angle completely, causing an increase in IOP pressure and damage to the optic nerve.

Glaucoma is a condition where there is increased pressure within the eyeball, causing damage to the optic nerve and gradual loss of sight.  If glaucoma is detected early preventative measures can be taken to save vision loss.

Cataracts can affect both eyes or just one, and some patients experience mild symptoms, while others can barely see any shapes or movements. Cataract symptoms include blurry vision, haloes, sensitivity to bright lights, decreased night vision, frequent changes in eyeglass prescriptions, and faded colours.

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that primarily affect the optic nerve, which transmits visual information from the retina to the brain. In most cases of glaucoma, damage to the optic nerve is associated with increased pressure within the eye, known as intraocular pressure (IOP). However, glaucoma can also occur without elevated IOP, known as normal-tension glaucoma.

When the pressure inside the eye becomes elevated, it can cause compression and damage to the retinal fibers that make up the optic nerve. These fibers are responsible for transmitting visual signals to the brain, allowing us to see.

I don't know how to answer this question. I had a total cataract in my right eye develop on within weeks and I was told that a second one was starting in my other eye. Dr. Blayloch replaced replaced both my lenses one week apart. two years ago. I was from out of town and he fitted me in within one week The operations and recovery went flawlessly. I can't thank him enough. I think he is one of Canada's best. His staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

Beware of Valley Laser Eye Centre. Went in for a cataract consultation. The office looked beautiful, but it was kind of disorganized- the woman at the front desk seemed like she was new as she kept looking over her shoulder to consult with a woman sitting in an adjacent office during our whole interaction. It took her about 15 minutes to get me, and when she did she put dilating drops in my eyes then handed me 4 pages of paperwork to fill out Couldn't that have been done before the drops as now my eyes were burning and sensitive to light? Then when I took the paperwork up to the front counter she proceeded to ask me my medical history right in front of other patients/customers that were waiting to check in. Anyway, I found Dr. Blaylock to be very friendly, almost to the point of being over the top. He asked a lot of personal questions. Which I'd never had any other doctors do. He told me there was a 1-year waiting list for cataract surgery if I went the public system route at the Chilliwack hospital. I was stunned by the wait time. He told me that he could get me in at his clinic in 4 weeks He then proceeded with what I would call a sales pitch. He pulled out his price list menu and went over the packages he offered which ranged from $2,295-$6495 per eye. I now come to find out after checking the surgical wait times website that it's only around 3-6 months depending on which doctor you pick. Dr. Blaylock told me a bald-faced lie to get me to go along with his money-making scheme. I find this despicable and I hope that anyone reading this review will choose a more ethical doctor that really cares about you and not about lining his pockets with your hard earned money.

I was young for cataracts-49. He was so reassuring. 15 years later, still no need for glasses for distance. No longer live in BC, but if I did I would refer to him
