Always talk with your Local Ophthalmologist about the information you learnt from the videos in regards to treatments for What is Glaucoma? and procedures the Local Ophthalmologist could  perform and if they would be appropriate for you. Remember good information is the corner stone to understanding your condition or disease.

local ophthalmologist is different from a local optometrist in that an optometrist doesn’t perform surgery. If you have a condition known as ocular hypertension, which is a result of high ocular pressure, your risk of developing glaucoma increases.Your optometrist or ophthalmologist may want to lower your IOP as a preventative measure.

Please contact ( Dr. Alysia Zhou, Ophthalmologist Lindsay, ON ) to enquire if this health care provider is accepting new patients.Patients are often concerned that an injection of material into their eye will be a painful or scary procedure. In fact, after the first or second injection, patients become quite at ease with the idea that they will have these injections, Following an intravitreal injection, you may feel pressure or grittiness in the eye, slight bleeding on the white of the eye and floaters in your vision. These are temporary and normal. As glaucoma progresses, it damages more and more of your optic nerve fibers, leading to vision loss. With primary open-angle glaucoma, the fluid can’t effectively flow back out of your eye. Angle-closure glaucoma occurs when the iris of the eye closes off the drainage angle completely, causing an increase in IOP pressure and damage to the optic nerve.

Glaucoma is a condition where there is increased pressure within the eyeball, causing damage to the optic nerve and gradual loss of sight.  If glaucoma is detected early preventative measures can be taken to save vision loss.

Cataracts can affect both eyes or just one, and some patients experience mild symptoms, while others can barely see any shapes or movements. Cataract symptoms include blurry vision, haloes, sensitivity to bright lights, decreased night vision, frequent changes in eyeglass prescriptions, and faded colours.

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that primarily affect the optic nerve, which transmits visual information from the retina to the brain. In most cases of glaucoma, damage to the optic nerve is associated with increased pressure within the eye, known as intraocular pressure (IOP). However, glaucoma can also occur without elevated IOP, known as normal-tension glaucoma.

When the pressure inside the eye becomes elevated, it can cause compression and damage to the retinal fibers that make up the optic nerve. These fibers are responsible for transmitting visual signals to the brain, allowing us to see.

Wow, this doctor's name should be beside the definition of "poor bedside manor". She told me I had a better chance of going blind during my car drive traveling to see her than her eye surgery; she cut me off mid-sentence enquiry and insisted that I was over-reacting when she wanted to immediately do a surprise surgery that I didn't know anything about. Find someone else as she is not the only eye doctor in town despite her acting like she is.

As someone who works in the Health Care profession, and have sadly witnessed inept care... this is by far the worst experience I've ever dealt with. I will start off by saying, the other employees in the office were magnificent, attentive, friendly, thorough. This was my first visit, so they wanted to test pressure in the eyes, dilate etc. The woman doing the testing, put a first set of drops in and tested the pressure. She indicated she would wait 15 minutes before putting the dilation drops in. The next thing I knew I was being called in to the exam room. Firstly, Dr Zhou had none of my medical history in front of her. I advised of a serious chronic illness I had that affected eye sight she had never heard of it. She glossed over the fact 2 members of my family have macular degeneration, and didn't even note in the file the eye issues I was presenting that lead to my request for ophthalmology. Secondly, immediately upon looking at my eyes she questioned if I had been dilated siting they didn't look as such. When I told her I hadn't, she looked at my chart and curtly advised I had been, and my eyed just didn't dilate well. I tried a second time to advise I had been told I'd be called back in and never was. She became combative and told me again I HAD been and it just didn't work properly. She spent approximately 90 seconds looking in my eyes and dismissed me advising to seek an optometrist in future. I am appalled, and disheartened that this is the quality of care elderly people have to deal with for Specialty eye care. Please think twice, drive the extra distance to be seen by someone competent.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a Dr. Very rude and condescending. Told me I had pink eye and on my follow up Appt told me I had permanent damage in my left eye and there was nothing she could do for me and sent me on my way. She did not have a care in the world to answer any of my questions. I pushed for a second opinion and have come to learn I have a rare eye disease called Thygeson's Keratitis and have been referred to a cornea specialist in Kingston. I would suggest going to another Opthalmologist.

Dr. Zhou cost my husband his eyesight!!!! She threatened him that she would pull his license if he did not have cataract surgery, we should have double checked with someone else, but we were scared into it, his eyesight now is awful....another doctor told us cataract surgery is never an emergency and she should not have touched him....this is from a specialist at Sunnybrook. Be careful people, better yet go elsewhere!!!

I was referred by my local optometrist to Dr Zhu and he told me upfront that she is straight to the point. I found her staff to be welcoming and friendly from the moment I walked in. I only met the Dr for a brief few minutes, but I fount her to be kind not at all like some of the reviews. She was very brief, but she did say she wanted to see me back for more testing in 5 months. Overall I had a pleasant experience with Dr Zhu and her office.

Extremely rude person, was transferred from another eye doctor due to retirement and was told to get a referral, which since she took over an existing doctors patients, referral shouldnt be required. Was rude about why i was there.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Zhou on 2 occasions and have found her knowledgeable, punctual and professional. She is definitely not warm and fuzzy but she knows her stuff and I find her very caring. I am very fortunate to have her expertise in monitoring my condition.

I had been seeing Dr. Cooper for years due to being a type 1 diabetic with no concerns about my treatment by him. Enter Dr. Zhou upon his retirement and now I am very concerned. Been seeing her every 3 months due to high pressure in my eyes and she has yet to do anything. Every light has halos around them, my eyes ache all the time, my pupils are not equal in size and a constant headache that gets severe at times....her response...I am not a headache doctor, You can still see, come back in 3 months. She was also told when I first saw here that Glaucoma is present in my family....so as my Optic Nerve is possible being damaged, she has yet to do anything and just dismisses my concerns. I do not recommend her and I am looking for another eye specialist right now before I go blind because of her ineptitude as a doctor.

This woman should really consider another career. Her interpersonal skills are terrible. Her manner is detatched, uncommunicative, evasive, curt & dismissive. On this visit, she asked me questions about when was I seeing a Dr. I had never heard of, & insisted that "he referred me." Then she mentioned ANOTHER Dr's name (also unknown to me) & got angry when I said I had never seen or heard of either of them. I suspect she was looking at someone else's file & was too embarrassed to admit it. Needless to say, I won't be seeing her again.

1 star is too high. Don't even want to her refer as Dr. Egotistical, condescending without much knowledge or consideration of the mayhem she is causing. I fear that my sister's eyesight will be permanently damaged by her recklessness. Lindsay definitely needs a more qualified and more attentive Ophthalmologist.

Dr Zhou did not listen to what I wanted to say and just referred me out. Poor communication, rude, arrogant and condescending. Doesn't explain treatments or condition unless prompted. No consideration for patients especially seniors. She makes you feel rushed and hence you don't finish the questions you might have wanted to ask. Impression is patient is too stupid to understand and should just do what she says!!
